Gynecology in Tenafly, NJ
At Obstetrics and Gynecology Associates we provide care for all women at every stage of their lives. From routine wellness exams to complex surgical procedures we are equipped and experienced in all areas of gynecological services. The health care provided includes but is by no means limited to:
Advanced Laparoscopic and Minimally Invasive Surgery (including Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy and Ovarian Mass Removal)
Hysterectomy Alternatives (including endometrial ablation with Novasure)
Much of our gynecologic surgery is done laparoscopically, which includes total laparoscopic hysterectomies, removal of endometriosis, ovarian cyst removal and ectopic pregnancies. Another minimally invasive operative procedure we perform is endometrial ablation. This procedure offers an alternative to hysterectomy for treatment of abnormal and excessive uterine bleeding not stemming from uterine cancer. The procedure is safe and effective and is performed in an outpatient procedure. Patients can resume normal activities the next day.
What conditions can be treated with Laparoscopy?
Removal of an ovary
Treatment of endometriosis
Diagnosis and treatment of pelvic pain
Ovarian cyst removal
Removal of fibroid tumors
- Treatment of ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy in the fallopian tube)
What do you mean by “minimally invasive?”
Minimal post-operative pain
Decreased chance of infection
Decreased chance of adhesions (internal scar tissue)
Most patients go home either the same day, or the day following the surgery
Abortion By Pill
Non-surgical abortion is commonly called “abortion by pill” or medical abortion. It is a non-invasive procedure for terminating a pregnancy.
The name of the abortion pill is Mifeprex, and it has also been called Mifepristone and RU-486.
Novasure is a procedure to treat menorrhagia, a medical term for menstrual periods that are too heavy, too frequent, or last too long. This is an excellent choice for women who are looking for an alternative to a hysterectomy, maintaining your natural hormones. The decrease in bleeding varies from woman to woman. Some find that their periods return to more normal levels. Others find that their bleeding is completely eliminated or will only spot for a few days a month.
